President's Profile
Virginia Frazier Jackson has over 15 years of business and accounting experience. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland and has worked in various industries including public accounting, hospitality, media, and retail.
After graduating from Howard University in Washington, DC, Virginia began her professional career at Arthur Andersen. While at AA she performed attestation services for small to medium sized companies in both the private and public sectors and was involved in several IPOs.
In 1998 Virginia joined the corporate accounting team at Choice Hotels International, Inc. as the Manager of International Accounting and Financial Planning. In this position she gained expertise in corporate consolidations and financial systems implementations.
Virginia also held the position of Corporate Controller for Hanley Wood, LLC in Washington, DC. In 2005 Hanley Wood was sold to JP Morgan Partners (now CCMP Capital Advisors, LLC) for $650 million. Virginia was an integral part of the management team that executed this transaction. In that position Virginia was responsible for overseeing the annual audit and working with management on the integration of acquisition targets.
Virginia is an active member of the Maryland Association of CPAs and is an advisory board member for the Association's Financial Literacy Council.
In 2006 Virginia launched Sankofa Financial Group. Sankofa's main purpose is to educate individuals, families and entrepreneurs in the area of money management and investing. SFG provides services in the areas of tax planning and preparation, business reporting and consulting and financial planning. As a small business owner, Virginia understands the many challenges and frustrations of entrepreneurship. Armed with the expertise of being a corporate executive, a small business owner, and a CPA, she brings a unique perspective to her partners and can easily understand their problems and help formulate quick solutions.
