The Sankofa Principle - Looking Back ... Moving Forward

The word Sankofa comes from the Akan people of West Africa and expresses a powerful principle: we must look to the past, learn from it, and reclaim what is valuable so that we can move forward with purpose.

The Sankofa symbol is traditionally represented by a bird moving forward while turning its head toward the past. It serves as a reminder that understanding where we have been can provide the wisdom and perspective we need to help determine where we are going.
